John Coghlan's Quo Reimagined
John Coghlan, drummer for the Iconic band Status Quo for over twenty years, is taking a brand new look at some of the ‘Quo’ compositions.
His quartet reimagines the harmonies and musical feel of classics such as Pictures of Matchstick Men, Caroline and In the Army Now, and the result maintains the essence of the originals yet they are now imbued with a lighter, more lyrical touch with hints of jazz and even classical genres.
Kickstarting the change and dynamic feel of the music, is the choice of instruments: Power chords on guitar and electric bass are replaced by jazz pianist Alex Steele and double bassist Paul Jefferies and out front vocalising and creating powerful riffs and solos is quite possibly one Europe's most exciting jazz violinists - Ben Holder.
The whole package is presented by John plus the trio with great humour, story telling and pure joy for the music that set pop & rock charts alight throughout the world for so many years.

Formed in 2018. The Delta Aces are a Staffordshire based acoustic Blues duo comprised of Steve Luff (guitar & vocal) and Paul Appleton (harmonica). Noted for their skilled and heartfelt performances, the duo perform authentic renditions of classic blues numbers and their own unique compositions.
The duo can regularly be found performing at festivals, blues clubs, bars & theatres across the UK. Due to their authentic vintage sound they are also a popular choice for private hire functions such as weddings, birthdays & traditional music gatherings.
Steve employs an independent / alternate thumb style on the guitar (as seen in many traditional Delta Blues styles) which enables him to create an accompanying bass line to the melody being played at the same time. Good examples of artists who employ this technique include the likes of Mississippi John Hurt, Robert Johnson & Chet Atkins. This helps the duo create a full and complete sound without the need for a bass player or drummer. Pauls use of scale improvisation, octaves and melody lines on the harmonica compliment this style exceptionally well.
Karen Macleod, a solo acoustic artist
(former member of the Nottingham based acoustic blues duo, The Hogrenderers and blues duo Sanders and Macleod) is also an accomplished finger style guitarist and singer who plays an eclectic mix of country blues, ragtime, American folk and bluegrass songs.
Although based in the Midlands, she has performed at various blues and folk festivals around the country including the Great British Blues Festival at Colne and Burnley and also Glastonbury and more locally the D.H Lawrence festival in Eastwood, as well as performing in the USA and Europe. She spent two years living in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia before hoboing across the USA on freight trains (and only got caught twice!).
You can expect to hear influences of these experiences in her well crafted instrumentals and original songs. She has also recently released her first solo cd of guitar instrumentals, The Wind on the Sea, reviewed The Living Tradition folk magazine (issue 141) and available on Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music etc.
